Increase Awareness
P for Bat – A film for parents about Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
1 in 10 children in India have SLD (Specific Learning Disabilities the family name for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia) but less than 8% of such children get diagnosed with the condition. Unless diagnosed the child will not get the SLD friendly education and learning environment he or she requires to do well at school.
It is therefore vital to raise awareness in parents about SLD, so that if they have a child who shows signs of SLD, the parent will get the child evaluated, and find an SLD supportive educational environment for the child.
With that goal in mind, we have made a short film called P for Bat to raise awareness in them about SLD. The film peeks into the lives of a child with SLD and his parents, their struggles to understand why their child was underperforming in school, and their subsequent trajectory.
